Stanley was a force in psychology practice. He helped build our profession. A memorable character indeed. May his name be for a blessing.

Stanley was part of the group that put independent practice on the map. He was a force in APA, a founder of Div 42 and a major donor to the Div 42 Steve Wallfish Grant with APF. I worked with him in many contexts and found him to be thoughtful and forthright.

He treaded where others feared to go, and we are all indebted to him. He was formidable in his approach to what he believed in.

May his name be for a blessing.

Laura Barbanel, EdD, ABPP

Stanley was the last president of the American Society of

Psychologists in Private Practice which became the Division of Independent Practice of Psychology.

He went on to become President of APA and served as one of our Council Representatives for many terms. He made many contributions to independent practice. May his memory be a blessing.

Alan D Entin, PhD, ABPP

Stanley Graham is being described as a force - and he was definitely a force. He made Independent Practice a strong and noticed part of APA. He demanded respect for the practice of psychology with a voice that we haven't heard since. For me he was part of the Golden Age of Practice.

He and I also always enjoyed a Lindy at the APA and Mid-Winter Convention Dances. My condolences to his family.
Elaine Rodino, Ph.D.

Stanley Graham was an irrepressible force for psychology and for independent practice. Wise and hilarious to be with, I learned a lot from Stanley. We have lost one of the greats. I'll miss him very much, and remember him always.

I didn't get to know Stanley as much as some of the rest of you, but he made a very strong impression on me, both personally and professionally. We lost another great one and I'll join with the rest of you in mourning his loss. May his memory be a blessing.

Stanley was truly unique in many respects and will live on in the history of APA based on numerous factual and apocryphal adventures.

Sending prayers and sweet thoughts to Stanley's family. I only worked with him very briefly in Council. We appreciate his service.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I had an opportunity to work with Stanley, in practice related issues, primarily. He really loved psychology and APA.
Jennifer F. Kelly, PhD, ABPP
Stanley was a proud and stalwart spokesman for professional psychology. His term as president followed mine, affording me an opportunity to work and travel nationally and internationally with him. He loved our profession and was proud to be a psychologist. Stay steadfast my friend, Joe Matarazzo
I am sad to hear this news. Stanley contributed significantly. He was complex, and "evolved and grew" along with the rest of us about so many issues that psychology faced. He was always good to me.
Melba J. T. Vasquez, Ph.D, ABPP
I am so sorry to learn of Stanley's passing. I had been a Council colleague for many years and always enjoyed and respected his participation and colleagueship!
Frank Farley, Ph.D
Truly a "man for all seasons", Stanley Graham was an exemplary psychologist, a caring and supportive therapist and a mentor to graduate students of psychology. He also knew and could sing the lyrics to many of Broadway's greatest hits!

For over 25 years we had many adventures together and grew to truly love each other. He was my colleague, my friend and my "brother".

Mark Handelman, MSW, LCSW

Dr. Graham made an impact in so many ways. We crossed paths as colleagues many a time, and I always found the experience, both entertaining and rewarding. But the legacy that stands out for me, the number of therapists who passed through Fifth Avenue, as well as his postgraduate institutes. These are the people that will carry on his work, and preserve his indelible memory. His legacy will live on through their work. His influence will never be forgotten.
